Technique of Meditation

Gautama Buddha introduced 108 meditation techniques but found one method called ANAPANASATHI as the best one. This Technique was rediscovered by a great spiritual scientist called BRAHMARISHI PATRIJI. He read thousands of books practiced meditation for many years and got enlightened and now he is doing a great service to the world by sharing his knowledge of meditation.

ANAPANASATHI is to just focus on your normal breath. I shall tell the technique of ANAPANASATHI as told by patriji.

One can sit in a comfortable position either on floor or on chair. There is no need to stress backbone by keeping it straight. Take support of wall or chair for keeping the backbone straight. The idea is to sit without any discomfort as it might distract you form meditating.

  1. Close your eyes
  2. Lock your palms by crossing fingers
  3. Lock your legs by crossing them
  4. Focus on your normal breathing

In the fourth step, there is no need for deep breath in or deep breath out, breathing with pressure etc.

One needs to focus on how we breathe regularly. While meditating don’t chant any mantra or imagine god or any idol. That’s it, here lies all the magic. One needs to experience the magic as no one can translate the joy of it into words.

The reason why we need to focus is on breathing is for us to experience an empty mind. By chanting mantra or Om karam or imaging idol one is indulging in the activity of chanting or imagining but not clearing the mind which can be achieved only by focusing on breath.

Initially one might get many thoughts or feel sleepy, in spite of that do practice it don’t give up. The thoughts will give way to emptiness by practicing. Let us take the example of washing machine. Our dirty Garment spins in the dirty water for some time and come out clean, similarly by meditating all the thoughts revolve for some time and vanish.

We should practice meditation according to one’s age to gain the benefits. For example, a 10 year old boy or girl should do it minimum for 10 minutes; a 30 year man or woman should do it minimum for 30 minutes. We cannot light a 110 watts bulb with just a 9 volt battery, Likewise one cannot reap the benefits by just meditating for a few minutes.

The most important is that there should be regularity. Every human must meditate daily.
